Maskcara IIID Foundation Review

If you have been in the beauty world you probably have heard about MaskCara makeup. If you don't follow Cara's Blog I definitely recommend to head on over there! She has great tips on applying makeup and doing hair. After following her Instagram from some time I finally took the plunge and purchased her IIID foundation paletteI purchased the light compact which came with the colors white peach highlight, walnut contour, pink grapefruit blush, and pearl illuminator. Her makeup is all about contouring. If you have never contoured it's pretty easy and she gives you directions on how to do it when you recieve it in the mail. She also has a video that also explains it too. After a couple times of applying it I finally figured out how to do it. I love it, it made my skin look so bright and not piled with makeup. After 3 days I started to notice some break outs. I was so disappointed because I love the makeup so much! I unfortunately had to return it.

Common questions:

Should I try it out?
My recommendation is to try it. It never hurts to try something new!  You may be surprised of how well it looks and works for you. They have a 30 day return policy so if for some reason it doesn't work with your skin type you can get a full refund.

Should I use primer or setting spray?
I tried with primer and I felt like I didn't stay on as well. So, I tried it without anything and it worked great! I honestly think you just need to play with it for a few times and see what works for you.

Here are some FAQ'S from Cara's blog.

To help clear up breakouts faster I recommend trying out this. It has been a lifesaver for me for several years!

I really do hope I can find something just as good that wont make me break out.  Have you tried the IIID foundation? What are some contouring palettes you prefer?

Applying Mineral Foundation

I never have been a foundation wearing kind of girl. I only wore pressed powder, blush and some concelear and called it a day. Since I've gotten older I have gotten more into makeup wearing. When I first tried some foundation it was by MaryKay. It was liquid. It took me a few times to get used to it, but after I got the hang of it I really liked the look it gave. After wearing it for about a week I started to break out. I think because my skin is so senstive that something in it made my skin react. So, I went back to the good o'le pressed powder for another few months. I knew the next time I would try foundation that I was going to go for a mineral powder. I wear mineral concelear and have never had any problems. My mom gave me some foundation to try by Southern Magnolia Minerals.
I absolutely love it! Since I'm so used to mineral already it was easy to use. A little goes a long way. I don't use much at all, but gives me the coverage I exactly want to accomplish.

I have really dry skin especially this time of year because of that I put on extra moisturizer. It takes awhile for it to dry so while it's drying I do my eye makeup. It's important to let it dry all the way so the foundation won't "cake" up on your skin. By doing your eye makeup first and if it falls on your face it won't mess up your foundation if you did that first.

After I do my makeup and if it's still not dry I get a small piece of tissue paper or kleenex and gently pat my face to get the sticky feeling off. I then grab my finishing powder.

Even though this is a finishing powder I put this on first so it will dry up the moisturizer the rest of the way. Since it's white you can't see it, but will definitly feel the difference that it is dry.

STEP 1: Put foundation brush in the powder tap the brush on the side to shake off the extra powder. Gently put all over your face.

**Before step 2 if needed put on your concelear first then do step 2**
STEP 2: Do the same thing you did before with the finishing powder.

STEP 3: Put your powder on top then finish the rest of your normal makeup routine. Also you can put the finishing powder on top of your makeup once your done with everything it gives you an airbrush look.

If you haven't tried mineral foundation it is a total game changer I definitely recommend you to try it especially if you have had reactions to liquid. I have been using this for over a week now and haven't reacted negatively in any way.

My finished makeup. I absolutley love the foundation.

Eyebrows- Anastasia Brow Wiz (Soft Brown)
Mascarra- Bobbie Brown Smokey Eye (Black)
Blush- used the blush from the tarte palette
Lips- Tarte Amazonian Butter Lipstick (Pink Peony)

What kind of foundation do you prefer?
Have a great day!
